Private ADHD assessment
Private assessment can offer faster access and more provider choice, but the assessment fee is only one part of the decision.
Private providers may have little or no waiting time when they have capacity, but availability changes. Check the current appointment date before you book.
Why people choose private
Appointments may be available much sooner than local NHS or some RTC pathways.
You can compare clinicians, service models, appointment times and treatment pathways.
Direct booking and online assessment may be available depending on the provider.
Look beyond the headline assessment price
Ask whether the quoted fee includes questionnaires, the clinical assessment, a diagnostic report, follow-up, letters, medication discussion and any additional documentation. If medication is wanted, ask separately about initiation, titration, prescription fees and ongoing review.
Use the provider checklist →Private diagnosis and NHS prescribing are different questions
A private diagnosis does not automatically mean a GP will prescribe ADHD medication. If treatment is initiated privately, ask how ongoing prescribing works, whether shared care may be requested and what the provider does if the GP declines.
